Why PAT Test

• The HSE state that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable electrical appliances.

• The Electricity at Work Regulations and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers and self-employed persons to take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment... This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program off maintenance inspection and testing.

• The most efficient way to produce documented records of inspection and testing is by PAT testing your electrical equipment.

• We will ensure that all inspection and testing of electrical equipment is carried out on a regular basis in line with the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment

Other Reasons

If you have not had your PAT Testing carried out then it will be picked up as an action one your Fire Risk Assessment.

If you are a construction company your Principal contractor or PQQ such as CHAS or Constructionline may stipulate that you must have PAT Testing carried out

Construction Site

PAT Testing is usually an insurance stipulation. Not having your PAT Testing up to date can affect your ability to claim against your insurance.
